Man on Wire is a 2008 documentary about Philippe Petit's incredible high-wire walk between the tops of the World Trade Center's twin towers in 1974. His performance at 400 meters (1,312 feet) above the ground was not authorized, so Petit and his accomplices had to clandestinely get the equipment to the towers' roofs and install the wire. It was very dangerous, as no safety net or harness was used.
The film uses real footage, pictures, re-enactments, and present-day interviews with Petit and his friends, documenting his previous high-wire walks and the preparations for the twin towers. Man on Wire won the 2009 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.
